Tester memo
See how Soltechnics works.
You need Phantom, a little Devnet SOL for fees, and at least two wallets if you want to see a vote. The USDC and the stake token are test tokens. They have no mainnet value.
What to bring
- Phantom, switched to Devnet. The address is the same on every network. The balance is not. Check the network before you sign.
- A little Devnet SOL for fees. Request it at faucet.solana.com with the Phantom address. A fraction of one SOL is enough for a long test. Projects does not send SOL. If that page is limited, the Solana guide also lists QuickNode and devnetfaucet.org.
- Projects, the open catalog at soltech.fun/projects.
The rules and the splits are in the documentation. On this beta, interest is 10 minutes, proposals are 15 minutes, a vote is 10 minutes, funding is 10 minutes, and a build is 1 to 24 hours.
What each role can do
| You are | You can |
| Anyone with Phantom | Read Projects. Connect. Request 1,000 test USDC and 5 stake tokens, once each 12 hours. Stake 1, unstake 1 when it is not locked, and claim staking rewards. |
| Staker | Open a project, deposit, file one proposal, and vote. Stake at least 1 token first. |
| Creator | Set the threshold, choose “I will build it” or “Open 15 minutes of proposals”, and pay $25. Half of that fee is shared by stakers. |
| Builder | During proposals, file a net fee, a build of 1 to 24 hours, and milestone percents. After you are selected, post proof and request an extension. |
| Backer | Deposit during interest, proposals, the builder vote, funding, and the build. $25 or more, deposited before a vote opens, is one vote. Claim a refund when the project is refunding. |
| Anyone, again | Press the settle button once the clock allows it, apply a winning proposal, settle a milestone or an extension, or expire a build whose time is over. You pay the fee. You do not receive the pool for pressing it. |
Get ready
- Open Projects.
- Connect Phantom. The account page shows your SOL, test USDC, free stake tokens, and staked tokens.
- Press “Request 1,000 test USDC and 5 stake tokens” and sign the message. Wait for the balances. This request does not spend your SOL beyond the signature prompt. The mint fee is paid for you.
- Press “Stake 1”. Confirm the transaction. Creating, depositing, bidding, and voting all check this stake.
Use a second Phantom account, or a second browser profile, for the backer. Give that wallet Devnet SOL as well, then request test tokens and stake 1 there too. A vote with only the creator, when the creator is also the builder, will be refused.
Creator builds it
This is the short happy path, then a failed second milestone so both wallets can claim what was not released.
- From the first wallet, open Start. Fill the title and the story. Set the interest threshold to
1000. Choose “I will build it”.
- Set the net amount to
870. That is a $1,000 goal, because the gross is the net grossed up at 87%. Set the build to 1 hour. Leave the stages at 20% and 80%. They must be whole percents, above zero, adding up to 100, with the first at most 20.
- Open the project. The wallet pays $25. The project appears as Interest.
- From the first wallet, deposit
1000. The threshold is met, so “Settle interest” can be pressed immediately. Because the deposit already covers the $1,000 goal, the project moves to Execution and skips funding.
- Before anyone posts proof, switch to the second wallet and deposit
25. This wallet is the voter. Do it before the proof is posted. A deposit made after the vote opens cannot vote on that milestone.
- Back on the builder wallet, write a proof and press “Post proof”. The first milestone, 20%, opens a 10 minute vote.
- On the second wallet, press Accept, then “Settle milestone”. The builder receives 87% of that 20% slice, the creator 10%, and the treasury the remainder. If you try Accept from the creator wallet, the program rejects it: the creator who is the builder cannot accept their own work.
- Post proof for the second milestone. On the second wallet, press Reject, then “Settle milestone”. The project enters Refunding. Money already paid on the first milestone stays paid.
- Each wallet that deposited presses “Claim refund”. The second claim can be one base unit larger than a neat split. That is the last-claimer dust. The escrow should then be empty.
To see the funding phase instead, set the net above 870 so the goal is above $1,000, deposit only the $1,000 threshold, and settle interest. The project waits in Funding for more USDC or for 10 minutes. “Settle funding” below the goal, after the clock, refunds.
Open it to builders
- Start a project and choose “Open 15 minutes of proposals”. Threshold
1000. You do not set a net amount. Builders will.
- Deposit enough to meet $1,000, from one or more staked wallets, then press “Settle interest”. Proposals open for 15 minutes. Meeting the threshold is what lets you settle at once.
- From a staked wallet that will build, open the project and file a proposal. Net
870, hours 1, stages 20 and 80, plus a short description. That wallet can update by filing again while proposals are open. A ninth distinct builder is rejected. The cap is 8.
- Every wallet that wants a vote must deposit at least
25 before you press “Settle proposals”. Depositing afterward is allowed, and it does not enter this vote.
- After the 15 minutes, press “Settle proposals”. The project moves to the builder vote for 10 minutes.
- Each eligible wallet presses Vote on one proposal. When enough votes are in, press “Apply winner” on the proposal that is strictly ahead. A single eligible voter is enough, because the required count never exceeds the number of eligible wallets. Two proposals with the same number of votes is a tie, and Apply winner is refused.
- If the pool is still under that proposal’s goal, Funding opens. Deposit the rest, or wait 10 minutes and settle. Once the goal is met, Execution begins and the selected builder posts proof as in the self-build walk.
Miss the threshold
Open a project with threshold 1000. Deposit 1, or deposit nothing. Wait until the interest line says the deadline is reached. Press “Settle interest”. The project becomes Refunding. Each depositor presses “Claim refund” and receives the same amount they put in.
No bids, or a tie
Meet the threshold on an open-proposal project and settle interest. Let the 15 minutes pass with no proposals. “Settle proposals” moves the project to Refunding. Depositors claim.
For a tie, two builders each file a proposal, and two eligible backers vote for different proposals, one each. After both have voted, or after 10 minutes, “Apply winner” fails because there is no unique winner. Press “Refund the builder vote”. The project refunds. If a unique winner does exist, that refund button is rejected and you apply the winner instead.
A full bid list
Eight different staked wallets can each have one proposal on the same project. The page shows “Proposals 8 / 8”. A ninth wallet’s submit is rejected and the phase stays on proposals. You do not need to finish this one unless you want to see the cap. The same rule is what stops a late wallet from pushing an earlier proposal out.
Rewards and claims
- After any project is opened, stakers can press “Claim rewards” on the account page. The amount is their share of the $12.50 half of the creation fee. A wallet that stakes later does not collect fees already paid out.
- “Unstake 1” works for tokens above the locked one. The locked token stays until the longest project that wallet joined has passed its horizon. On the beta that horizon is measured in hours, not months.
- Refund claims appear on the project only while it says Refunding, and only for a wallet that still has an unclaimed deposit.
What the program will refuse
- Create, deposit, bid, or vote with no staked token.
- A threshold under $1,000 or over $1,000,000.
- A build of 0 hours or more than 24 hours, or milestone percents that do not add to 100.
- A first milestone above 20%.
- Settle while the deadline is still ahead and the threshold is not met.
- A vote from the creator on a milestone or an extension when that creator is the builder.
- A vote from a wallet that deposited less than $25, or deposited after the vote opened.
- Posting proof during an extension vote, or requesting an extension during a milestone vote.
- A third extension, or an extension longer than half the original build.
- Applying a winner when the vote is tied or still short of quorum.
- Refunding the builder vote when a unique winner already exists.
The button stays on the page. The refusal comes back as a short message from the program. Released funds are not part of a later refund. Wait for the clock, or meet the threshold, and send the settle transaction again.
